The UAE Ports Deal
For links illuminating the following list, please stop by teriobrien.com, and scroll down to "Recent Show Topics." When you do don’t forget to vote in this week’s poll.
Pros
Dubai Major Friend and Partner in Fighting Islamofacism
Thoroughly vetted by 12 federal agencies, who approved it unanimously
Supported by Condi Rice, Donald Rumsfeld and Tommy Franks
Nixing the deal sends an isolationist message when we are trying to find allies in the Middle East.
UAE has cleaned up its act since 9/11.
Do we really want President Bush, who allowed the 1st amendment to be trampled by McCain-Feingold, and who allows spending that would do a liberal proud, to make this his first veto?
Opposed by Dick Durbin
Cons
A foreign government shouldn’t be in charge of port security at any American port.
9/11 Terrorists received financial transfers from Dubai, and some maintain it is still a hub for financing terrorism and drug dealing.
UAE was one of the last countries to continue to recognize the Taliban.
UAE not only has not recognized Israel. It is overtly hostile to Israel.
UAE may have cleaned up its act, four years of being on the right side don’t make up for 30 years of being on the wrong one.
Democrat poseurs like Hillary Clinton, whose husband’s administration not only sold extremely sensitive technology to the Communist Chinese (and wanted to turn over management of the former U.S. Naval Station in Long Beach to a subsidiary of the Chinese Red Army until he was stopped by Republicans Duncan Hunter and James Inhofe) but also sold F-16’s and other military technology to UAE, will use this sale for political advantage.
Supported by Jimmy Carter.

Meet The Press, 2/12/06
Instead of watching Russert's show in my usual venue (WLS studio B, hunting for tasty soundbites), I am here in the den with the Husband and the dogs. The subject: NSA surveillance, and there's tons of good stuff here. More about that later. Right now, I'm just wondering: what is with Tom Daschle's hair? Did he borrow Rob Blagojevich's blow dryer and hair spray?
Also is Tim Russert is deaf? Senator Roberts, who is doing a TERRIFIC job trying to explain to boneheads the problems with FISA, just held up a bottle of "memory pills," suggesting that his democrat colleagues aren't remembering what happened when they were briefed on the NSA surveillance. I'm sure he knows that that's not the problem. As usual, they are trying to rewrite history, cover their sorry rear ends and use anything and everything to regain political power. Pathetic.
For more on today's MTP, please check http://teriobrien.webloggin.com later today.

Has the phrase “weapons of mass destruction” jumped the shark?
“We’ve got 48-50 million people without health insurance. That’s a weapon of mass destruction.”
Rev. Joseph Lowery, Fox News Sunday, 2/12/06
The reverend said this at the end of a discussion on whether he was right to politicize the Coretta Scott King funeral. I think that now that this threadbare bleat from the September 10 party and their fellow travelers has been reduced to a universal anti-Bush epithet, it’s time to retire it once and for all. That’s especially true since of course the slogan “No Weapons of Mass Destruction” was a lie from the git go. No health insurance (not no health CARE, BTW—don’t believe me? Ask an emergency room nurse or doctor.) is a “weapon of mass destruction,” but Saddam Rape-Room, Hey-Let’s-Put-That-Guy-in-The-Big-Human-Shredder Hussein isn’t?
And speaking of health insurance, now there’s FIFTY MILLION uninsured? Just a couple of days ago when I heard one of these crypto-socialists whining about this issue, it was only 43 million. Things just get worse and worse in Dick Cheney’s America, apparently.

Here they go again: Dems Living Up to Their Mascot and Acting Like Jackasses
On yesterday’s show, we previewed the Senate Judiciary Committee’s hearings on the NSA terrorist surveillance program.
This is unbelievable, or maybe not, given the characters involved. Thirty minutes ago, Arlen Specter gaveled in his committee, and just now the star witness, Attorney General Alberto Gonzales, began to testify. The democrats wasted a half an hour whining about the fact that he wasn’t put under oath! Finally, Arlen Specter just said he had decided it wasn’t necessary, that the dems didn’t have the votes, so shut up and let’s get on with it. At that point, Grandpa Simpson aka Patrick Leahy launched into a rambling monologue, waxing nostalgic about the 1970’s, wiretaps of Martin Luther King—blah blah blah. He and the other dems are clearly hoping that the American people will find chasing the ghost of Richard Nixon as much fun as they do. As usual, they are completely out of touch with what matters.
One of the ringleaders of this stunt was Russ Feingold. I still can’t believe this character thinks he is presidential material. How does someone get that disconnected from reality, I wonder.
More later, so watch this box!
