Neas Knees Leahy--I don't think so
“When John Roberts becomes Chief Justice and votes to erode or overturn longstanding Supreme Court precedents protecting fundamental civil rights, women's rights, privacy, religious liberty, reproductive rights and environmental safeguards, Senator Leahy's support for Roberts will make him complicit in those rulings, and in the retreat from our constitutional rights and liberties.”
Ralph Neas, People for the Hollywood Way Reacts to Patrick Leahy’s decision to vote in favor of confirming Chief Justice in Waiting John Roberts
Some expressed initial surprise at Senator Patrick Leahy’s announcement today that he would vote in favor of John Roberts’ confirmation, then stated the obvious: that the dems are setting themselves up to approve to be reasonable when they behave completely unreasonably towards the next nominee.
What I found surprising is that some people seem to actually believe that Ralph Neas is genuinely upset with Sen. Leahy, to which I say “as if!” as in, as if Sen. Leahy’s decision to vote for John Roberts wasn’t thoroughly discussed with Neas, Marcia Greenberger, Nan Aron and all the other left-wing interest group poobahs who call the shots for the dems on the Judiciary Committee before it was announced. As if Ralph and friends aren’t part of the strategy. Are they kidding?! Are these poor naïve souls blind?
Is anyone really buying that Ralph Neas isn’t in on this strategy or have I become a victim of the corrosive cynicism that I often decry? I think not. I know how the libs in the Senate operate. They would no more make a decision about a Bush nominee to the Supreme Court without discussing it with these leftist groups than my dog would take food off the kitchen counter. I have trained her well, just as Ralph Neas has trained Leahy, Durbin, Schumer, et. Al.

Why do they hate us? Take it somewhere else!
Thanks to Jim Oberweis for calling the show yesterday while he and Peter Gadiel were on their way to the Patriot Day picnic in Wheaton. Peter and his wife Jan are on the Board of Directors of 9/11 Families for a Secure America. Their son James was murdered on 9/11. He the 103rd Floor of the North Tower of the World Trade Center when the plane hit.
When we asked Mr. Gadiel about the current controversy involving the proposed International Freedom Center at Ground Zero, and asked what we could do to stop it, he suggested contacted our elected representatives. That makes sense because the Lower Manhattan Development Corporation will receive millions of federal funds to construct this outrage.
I have posted my letter below. In addition, here’s the link to the Lower Manhattan Development Corporation comment page, where you can tell them what you think about this idiotic International Freedom Center.

Speaking of idiotic, on yesterday’s show we also discussed the plans for a Crescent of Embrace Memorial for the victims of Flight 93. Well, it’s supposed to be about Flight 93, but as several observers have noted, the design bears an eerie and disturbing similarity to the Muslim crescent. Whether that’s intentional, it’s unacceptable for their to be any ambiguity about what this memorial is supposed to be about: remembering the victims of Islamic fanatics who murdered them. If you want to judge for yourself, please check out the link to “Crescent of Embrace” under “Recent Show Topics” on teriobrien.com. There you’ll also find a link to the National Park Service comment page for this memorial. They must approve the final design.
Thanks again for listening!

Dear Congressman,
What do the following have to do with 9/11?
Abu Ghraib
Chinese Dissidents
Lynchings and Jim Crow Laws
Chilean Refugees
If you are wondering the same thing, perhaps you should direct the question to those planning the International Freedom Center at Ground Zero. As you know, Ground Zero is supposed to be a memorial to the victims of September 11, but apparently the organizers have other ideas. They don’t want to “feature America first,” preferring to take their cue from European “museums of conscience.” To allow this memorial to reflect the unhinged belief that somehow the 9/11 attacks present an opportunity to members of the ‘America-is-always-wrong’ club to recite their litany of revisionist history is insulting to the memory of those who died and infuriating to those of us who understand what it should be about, that is, the evil and hatred of the murderous terrorists who struck that day, and the courage and sacrifice of their victims. It is OUTRAGEOUS that anyone in his right mind would consider it appropriate for a memorial to the victims of 9/11 to be about anything other than that. Just who DOES think it is appropriate? Not surprisingly, it’s the usual suspects. Consider the following list compiled by Debra Burlingame, whose brother Chic was the pilot of United Flight 77, the one that slammed into the Pentagon.
“• Michael Posner, executive director at Human Rights First who is leading the worldwide "Stop Torture Now" campaign focused entirely on the U.S. military. He has stated that Mr. Rumsfeld's refusal to resign in the wake of the Abu Ghraib scandal is "irresponsible and dishonorable."
• Anthony Romero, executive director of the ACLU, who is pushing IFC organizers for exhibits that showcase how civil liberties in this country have been curtailed since September 11.
• Eric Foner, radical-left history professor at Columbia University who, even as the bodies were being pulled out of a smoldering Ground Zero, wrote, "I'm not sure which is more frightening: the horror that engulfed New York City or the apocalyptic rhetoric emanating daily from the White House." This is the same man who participated in a "teach-in" at Columbia to protest the Iraq war, during which a colleague exhorted students with, "The only true heroes are those who find ways to defeat the U.S. military," and called for "a million Mogadishus." The IFC website has posted Mr. Foner's statement warning that future discussions should not be "overwhelmed" by the IFC's location at the World Trade Center site itself.
• George Soros, billionaire founder of Open Society Institute, the nonprofit foundation that helps fund Human Rights First and is an early contributor to the IFC. Mr. Soros has stated that the pictures of Abu Ghraib "hit us the same way as the terrorist attack itself."

Just yesterday we commemorated the fourth anniversary of the hijackings that resulted in the death of so many innocents. We can’t allow the anti-American left to hijack the Ground Zero memorial.
It is wrong to blithely hand over millions of federal dollars to this blame-America crowd so that they can use 9/11 to further their contemptible agenda. I look forward to hearing that you agree, and that you will make every effort to make sure that it doesn’t happen. Kindly contact me at your earliest convenience and let me know what steps you have taken to assure that this outrage is stopped immediately.
Very truly yours,

JUSTICE FOR LUCKY (AND THE ROBERTS FAMILY) UPDATE
I was unable to attend the hearing on Friday, however, thanks to our special correspondent, a listener who attended the hearing, we have the following eye witness report:
Dateline: Joliet; Will County Courthouse
I just wanted to give you an update on Lucky's court date today. Because the defense needed more time to prepare their 'discovery' (I'm not sure if I'm wording that right), they were given a continuance and the new court date is October 19. It was over in about 2 minutes.
When Czernik showed up he walked past us with this smug look on his face. (two ladies that showed up said 'Killer' as he walked by) In fact, it was mostly women there and when he noticed my co-worker Kim's (Karen's sister) husband standing there, he mumbled under his breath "Oh, I guess another sex decided to show up". The only good news is that our case was first - the bailiff couldn't wait to get rid of us because we were in the way. She very loudly said the room would clear if they did Lucky's case first. I know they have a job to do but she was a real charmer. There were about 15 of us and we all had our Justice for Lucky t-shirts on so hopefully the judge noticed. I saw a couple newspaper reporters there and Karen is supposed to call channel 2 so they can run the story today.
Thanks so much for that report, and like most of you, I plan to stay on top of this case. IMO, if this guy committed this heinous crime, he is a danger to the community and needs to spend some time incarcerated to think about it.

Show post-mortem, 9/4/05
Kudos to SL (Smart Listener, our obviously redundant term) Bill for guessing that our “Who Said it?” was Donna Brazile. That was such an excellent guess, not only because the person who was the correct answer, Mary Frances Berry, sounds a lot like her, but because Ms. Brazile is from Louisiana.
I really enjoyed sharing those soundbites of our “Who Am I?” Bradley Whitford—I know, like Producer Brian, you’re still asking who he is. He is an actor who appears on the long-running NBC series “The West Wing” (or do you say “The Left Wing?) and is married to Jane Kaczmarek from “Malcolm in the Middle.” As we heard, he’s also a major theologian and an infrastructure expert. Hilarious stuff!
As promised in our on-air programming note today, here’s the rest of the story (apologies to Paul Harvey for stealing his line, but at least when I steal, I steal from the best) about the Laura Berman segment on the Monday, 8/29 edition of the Eileen Byrne show, which I guest hosted. If you didn’t hear the show, we were discussing Dr. Berman’s column in which she expressed her disgust that some construction workers dared to ogle, leer and whistle at her on her lunch hour. One even said something like “Hey I need something to fantasize about when I have sex with my wife.” She’s a SEX THERAPIST! Hasn’t she recommended that her clients fantasize to spice up their love lives? PULEEZE! She became even more hysterical when her readers supported the construction workers. Get a load of this:
“While I confess to being a feminist, my motivation for writing last week's column was as a humanist.”
Oh, we never would have guessed that a humorless soul was a feminist!
“The men on the windowsill at Neiman's should never forget that behind every piece of eye candy is somebody's mother or wife or daughter. We are souls, we are not candy and we are not there for their pleasure.”
Wait, did they take her down the alley and gang rape her? You’d think so from the tone of this column. And why do I suspect that this woman wasn’t wearing jeans and a sweatshirt when she was trying to avoid being regarded as “candy.” I have two words for the good doctor: Grow up!

OK, so we get off the air, and I notice that there are several identical packages, boxes, actually, addressed to several of the producers, including Eileen’s producer Jeff, sitting on one of the credenzas. The boxes are approximately 9 inches long, 3 inches wide, about the size that would hold a small sub sandwich, or a pair of expensive sunglasses with their protective bubble wrap. Most interestingly, they are from Dr. Laura Berman! What a nice coincidence, huh? I tell Jeff, and of course, he’s as eager as I am to see what’s inside. When he cuts through the cardboard, a bunch of purple feathers come bursting out, nearly choking both of us. I figured it must be some sort of fragrance, judging from the size of the inner packaging, and its glossy purple cardboard. Even after he extracted the contents, I wasn’t sure that it wasn’t a perfume bottle.
Imagine an object made of clear acrylic plastic, about 7 inches long, with a base like a round ball that fits in the palm of the hand and a tip sharpened to a point. In between, it’s like two hourglasses, one slightly smaller, on top of the other. In the ball/base, is something that looks like a rock. In the middle, there’s a slightly smaller rock. Think of a miniature lava lamp that someone has squeezed in the middle, then sharpened to a point at one end, and hardened in place. Are you getting the picture? Actually, if you want to see this thing, there’s a website, but I wouldn’t send you there. It’s a little too close to porn for my taste, frankly. No, it’s not what you think. This device, object, whatever you want to call it, does not require batteries. Jeff reads the accompanying material and discovers this thing is a piece of exercise equipment, specifically designed to exercise the muscles of the pelvic floor—you know, that Kegel thing. As he’s reading the instruction manual, I glance over and see some extremely graphic, albeit clinical and in no way erotic, drawings of very intimate parts of the female anatomy. But it’s hardcore stuff. If you opened this up in the wrong corporate meeting, you’d find yourself up on sexual harassment charges.
So, let’s break this down. Here we have another humorless feminist, who obviously believes that the primary differences between men and women are anatomical, and is completely clueless about how the cult of narcissistic sex-as-recreation mentality has damaged our society and coarsened our culture. Most important, and ironic in this case, it’s difficult to argue that the so-called “sexual revolution” of the last thirty years has benefited women. Sure, we get the “right” to hit the sheets without commitment just like men, but does that make us better off than June Cleaver? I don’t think so. Men may have been “male chauvinist pigs” but they did understand that women would require them to commit, and both men and women understood that the most important differences between men and women aren’t between their legs. They are between our ears, a notion abhorrent to feminists like Laura Berman. She is so offended when a guy whistles at her in her skirt and heels, yet she blithely circulates sexually-explicit material and promotes attitudes that do reduce women to what back in the day used to be called “sex objects.”
Once again, Dr. Berman: grow up!
Thanks for listening! Please don’t forget that we will be broadcasting the 9/11 show from the Luxury Home Tour home in St. Charles. More about that in an upcoming post.
Enjoy this beautiful Labor Day!

As heard in the 2nd amendment update on Sunday, 9/4/05
The Cook County Board is currently considering a proposal that would ban certain semi-automatic firearms throughout the county. If passed, this ordinance would ban many of the semi-automatic rifles, pistols, and shotguns you own, leaving them subject to confiscation by the Cook County Sheriff. The proposal also threatens hefty fines of $500 for individuals possessing these firearms, and a possible jail term. The County Board is expected to take action on this ban at the next board meeting, which is scheduled for 10:00 a.m. on September 8, at the County Board Room, Room 569, 118 North Clark St., Chicago. Please contact your Cook County commissioners today and urge them to oppose these unnecessary restrictions, and make plans to attend the meeting on September 8. It is critical that NRA members and the pro-gun community voice their opposition to this attack on the Second Amendment. The general number for the County Board is (312) 603-6398. For specific contact information on your commissioners, visit: www.co.cook.il.us/secretary/HomePage_Links/board_of_commissioners_of_cook_c.htm.

Things I was wondering …
Cindy Sheehan said a couple of weeks ago that because President Bush killed her son, she will protest by refusing to pay her taxes. Since she’ as been sitting in a ditch for a month and is now embarking on a bus tour obviously her employer, if she has one, considers her something other than indispensable, so do we really think she pays federal income taxes anyway?
If President Bush should disavow Pat Robertson, shouldn’t Cindy Sheehan disavow David Duke?
Speaking of Pat Robertson, if Pat Robertson should be taken off the air for his unfortunate comments regarding assassination because he is “an influential Republican leader,” why was it ok for ABC News to hire George Stephanopolis who advocated the assassination of Saddam Hussein in a 1997 Newsweek piece?
Why is President Bush more tainted by the comments of “influential Republican leader” (yeah right) Pat Robertson, who is not and never has been a member of the Bush administration, than President Clinton was by the words of one of his senior advisors?
