GUEST ALERT!

Tomorrow morning (Wednesday) at 9am, we'll talk to bike shop owner Don Zordani on the subject of Eminent Domain. His bike shop is being threatened in Jefferson Park because the establishment wants to build condos (greater tax revenue) in his location.

Thursday morning at 9am, we'll be speaking to a man, possibly the next Governor of Illinois, Jim Oberweis (Oberweis Dairy). LOVE his campaign slogan, got guv?

It was certainly appreciated by many, many, people in Chicago/Barrington but truly by everyone at WE DO CARE and all those whom had the privilege of seeing and meeting you at Freedom Festival.

PS: No kidding that was one big stretched limo, heck I thought the entire woman's soccer team could of been traveling in that one with you. Yikes. Wait a minute was it the men's team with you? lol Just kidding.

Eileen, have a GREAT day,

Semper Fi & God Bless America,

Americanism Chairman

Thank you Marty! Thank you also to Didi and Karen Bocabella and Dirk Beveridge for all the great work they have done supporting our military and hosting the We-Do-Care Barrington Freedom Festival yesterday. Please contact their website (we-do-care.org) to learn more about good organizations like The Heart of a Marine Foundation, serving all branches of our Armed Forces. Also ....the Family Readiness Group, we are adopting the A Company, 133rd Signal Battalion, just stationed in Iraq fighting Operation Iraqi Freedom and sending them notes, care packages and things they need... I also made a contribution to Helping Our Heroes...they are a charitable foundation dedicated to raising money to help active duty ILLINOIS Military Personnel in financial distress. Many risk losing their homes and face eviction. Please do what you can for those men and women who do so much for us. Thank you!

Hi! I am taking a few days off to attend my college roommate's wedding in California! My married college girlfriends are leaving the babies at home and partying in Yosemite National Park. (I love to party with married Moms--they really get down! They know it's rare to have a few nights off and they make the most of it!) We'll have stories upon my return. I get back on Saturday evening, June 25th. Thank you so much to Deborah Rowe for filling in. Jeff and I will be going to Napa and Sonoma for some wine tasting...and I'll bring back a bottle for you Deb! Thank you for rearranging your schedule. I appreciate it very much.

On June 26th, I will be co-hosting the 2nd Annual Barrington Freedom Festival to support our men and women in uniform. It's on Sunday, June 26th from 11am to 5pm...at Langendorf Park. Just went out there on Monday to check out the location. Gorgeous! Lots of space, trees, there will be a tent for the kids, face painting by the MARINES, rock climbing wall, a Moonwalk for your little ones to jump around in and sit in a real Air Force mini jet, write notes and draw pictures for our veterans and have a great time. For the adults, an opportunity for all of us to thank our veterans, interact with soldiers, sailors, airmen and Marines who have returned from Iraq and Afghanistan and find new ways to assist them. Great food, and fantastic music by The Army Jazz Ambassadors, Keni Thomas and members of the USO. I look forward to it very much. For more info, go to www.we-do-care.org

I would like to thank you guys for joining us on the difficult subject about selective abortion this morning. Parents-to-be finding out about possible deformity and making the decision to abort rather than leave it in God's hands. I mentioned a very special woman named Valerie who has a son who has special needs. I received an email from her today:

"I heard you talk about the sad statistic about how little we value even our own children's lives and how we are now picking what kind of life we think they should have. I immediately looked back at my son in my car and thought to myself--how sad would it be if you weren't in my life. Honestly, there would be no more funny idiosyncrasies, no more cute little glasses, no more braces for his feet, no more silly little grins, no more...How horrible. Then I started to get really ticked off at how arrogant our society has become. Not only can we use abortion as a form of birth control, but now we can decide what kind of "quality of life" our own kids should have? Who do we think we are?! During the really long commercial break, I proceeded to get more and more aggravated and depressed and desperately wanted to call in. I kept thinking, people really need to know what it is like and what a great joy and blessing it is to have a child with special needs. Most people think only about all of the "inconveniences" and never think of the true joy they have to offer. About this time is when you came back and shared the story about your friend and how she aborted her baby....and then you mentioned me and my son. I had to pull off the road because I was sobbing so hard. You said exactly what I would've said. After the show, I sat there in my car with my two kids and thought to myself, God never makes a mistake. I left my phone at home today, so you could speak for my son and all of the other children who struggle like my little one does. From the bottom of my heart, thank you very much!"

Valerie and I had a conversation off the air a few months ago when I was doing research for United Cerebral Palsy and she is truly an amazing person. She told me that God doesn't give us anything that we can't handle and that God must have thought she was really special to give her such a blessed child. I pray that more people will reconsider and think of that when they find out about the health of their unborn children. None of us is perfect. Who's to say that you...because you have two functioning legs, arms, eyes has more right to live than someone who doesn't? Sure, I can speak and write and communicate...but I am in awe of a woman named Brenda who I met at the facilities provided by UCP...who types with her toes because she has something to say.

It also makes me very sad when I read the news about Terri Schiavo's autopsy. It doesn't matter to me what the autopsy says or doesn't say about Terri's condition or death. To me, it will always be abuse that she endured ("when is that B*ch going to die") and that her life was taken from her and the Schindlers prematurely. The wonderful news is that Valerie has her son and loves him with all of her heart. The devastating news is that the Schindlers no longer have Terri and that to them, regardless..if she was blind, if her brain was smaller than that of an adult, they wanted to care for her, she was their daughter and now, because of one man who has since moved on with his life with his healthy wife and children, she is gone.

Thank you so much for reading. Have a wonderful week. I will see you (I hope!!!) at the Barrington Freedom Festival. God Bless you! Eileen Byrne
